Intercontinental Champion Big E def. Jack Swagger
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/9385943.jpg?336)
Though he overcame stiff odds just to get here, Jack Swagger fell just short in his bid to claim Big E’s Intercontinental Title at Elimination Chamber Sunday night. Earning the opportunity to challenge the dominant champion by prevailing in a SmackDown Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender’s Match, the Real American lost a hard-fought battle that showed how truly formidable the reigning titleholder is.
The bout between the two former amateur wrestling standouts was everything the WWE Universe could expect, as both competitors demonstrated impressive athleticism for Superstars of their stature. Combining strength with technical know-how andpunishing power moves with classic holds, the brutal back-and-forth couldn’t be contained within the confines of the ring. With the action spilling to the outside in the early stages, Big E nearly cut Swagger in half with a spear into the steel steps. The Real American responded, however, with a monstrous clothesline that sent the champion crashing to the ringside floor.
When the fight returned to the ring, Swagger looked to capitalize with a big boot before attempting to take the titleholder down to the mat. However, Big E fought his way back into the match, and the two competitors traded belly-to-belly suplexes and massive clotheslines. The Intercontinental Champion then nailed his challenger with a spear through the ropes that sent both Superstars flying off the apron and crashing to the ringside floor.
Back inside the ring, Swagger thwarted Big E’s top-rope attempt with a massive suplex, then cinched in his Patriot Lock. It appeared as though the WWE Universe would bear witness to a title change in Elimination Chamber’s opening bout, but the champion powered through. When Swagger re-engaged his signature hold, Big E reversed with a stunning enziguri kick to the Real American’s head, followed by a ring-shaking Big Ending and the three-count.
Though Bad News Barrett interrupted the champion’s post-match celebration, Big E’s Intercontinental Championship was secured. One of the most promising rising stars WWE has seen in years, Big E may well be on track for an historic reign as Intercontinental Champion.

WWE Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws def. The Usos
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/5881008.jpg?361)
Elimination Chamber pitted two tag teams divided by a generation: WWE Tag Team Champions and Attitude Era icons The New Age Outlaws against the twin Usos. In a battle of high-flying youth against experience, Road Dogg & Billy Gunn once again silenced all the naysayers by defeating The Usos and proving why – 14 years after their last title reign – they are the best tag team in WWE.
With the illustrious career of The New Age Outlaws available to review on WWE Network, they've never faced a pair of identical twins with impeccable teamwork. One of the most exciting duos in WWE today, The Usos’ family history certainly lends credence to the idea that perhaps Jimmy and Jey are destined for tag team glory. Though The New Age Outlaws have certainly proved they’ve still got “it” since winning the WWE Tag Team Titles at WWE Royal Rumble, blood runs thicker than water, and the undeniable bond between The Usos has garnered them a great deal of success over the past year.
Channeling their legendary Anoa’i bloodline, the twin sons of Rikishi – a former World Tag Team Champion as part of The Headshrinkers – were charged and ready to make The New Age Outlaws regret their return. Early in the contest, Billy Gunn tried to assert his dominance, but the agility and uncanny teamwork of The Usos sent both Gunn and Road Dogg reeling and recalibrating their strategy.
In an effort to stop the high-flyers in their tracks, The Outlaws began to implement more unorthodox tactics, including tossing Jey Uso into the corner and unleashing a methodical and brutal offensive that highlighted what has made The New Age Outlaws so successful over the years. However, in their numerous battles and ultimate quest for the WWE Tag Team Championship, The Usos have proven their resilience; with the WWE Universe rallying behind him, Jey fought back and managed to tag in his brother, who took control of the bout.
With the action spilling to the outside of the ring, Jimmy was temporarily stunned after diving over the ropes and colliding head-to-head with Road Dogg. Jimmy then made his way back into the squared circle in an attempt to pick up the victory against Billy Gunn.
With victory only a superkick away, Road Dogg distracted Jimmy and was hit with the kick intended for Gunn. Displaying the very experience that has led them to tag team championship glory six times, Gunn capitalised on his partner’s diversion and rolled up Jimmy Uso to secure the victory.

Titus O'Neil def. Darren Young
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/6568583.jpg?357)
The bad blood between Titus O’Neil and Darren Young finally boiled over at Elimination Chamber, with O’Neil securing a hard-fought win over his former Prime Time Players partner.
In recent weeks – following the former Florida Gators star’s vicious assault on Young on the Jan. 31 edition of SmackDown – the two exchanged harsh words and sneak attacks, setting the stage for an extremely personal and hard-hitting confrontation. And that’s exactly what unfolded in front of a packed house of WWE fans at Minneapolis’ Target Center.
After a tie-up to start the match, Titus used his strength to throw the smaller Superstar around the ring, flattening him with a big shoulder block. Darren turned the tables and clotheslined his aggressive opponent over the top rope. Keeping the pressure on, “Mr. No Days Off” hit “The Real Deal” with a big clothesline. Titus kicked out of the pin attempt and regained momentum, showing off his power by tossing Darren over the ring post and sending him crashing to the floor.
Titus rag-dolled his former tag team partner around the ring, but Young fought back valiantly with elbows before going up on the ropes again. O’Neil, however, caught Young’s cross body attempt mid-air and hit a ruthless backbreaker.
Darren fought back to his feet, nailing Titus with heavy punches and a big clothesline. He let off further steam on his rival with a ring-shaking back body drop and a neckbreaker on the apron. Yet Titus managed to fight through the pain, nailing a vicious kidney punch and then Clash of the Titus for the three-count and cathartic victory.
In defeat, “Mr. No Days Off” more than lived up to his nickname, fighting bravely against his much larger and stronger former friend. Despite this setback, the future remains bright for Young.
O’Neil proved that he still looks like “millions of dollars.” If his rivalry with Young has been extinguished once and for all, where might “The Big Deal” turn his attention next?

The Wyatt Family def. The Shield
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/446475.jpg?347)
Bray Wyatt brazenly declared that war was his favourite game in the build-up to his monstrous family’s showdown with The Shield at Elimination Chamber 2014. In a battle that was every bit the conflict it was predicted to be, Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan showed just how dominating they are on the battlefield, emerging victorious over The Hounds of Justice when Bray Wyatt floored Roman Reigns with Sister Abigail.
The capacity crowd gathered in the Target Center was on its feet in anticipation before the bell even rang, watching and waiting for the two factions to collide. The WWE Universe declared “This is awesome” before the six Superstars even came into contact with each other. Despite rumblings that there may be a crack in The Shield, Seth Rollins, United States Champion Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns stood strong in the spectre of their terrifying foes before the bout.
There was nothing the lone official assigned to this bout could do to control the chaos as the two factions stared each other down. Ambrose then charged into the Wyatt Family ranks, getting a few shots in on Bray Wyatt before the eerie trio retreated from the ring.
Rollins used his speed at the official start of the contest to send Rowan staggering back into The Shield’s corner. The massive Rowan eventually steamrolled his way out, turning Rollins inside-out with a monstrous shoulder block. The Shield’s architect soon wriggled free from Bray Wyatt’s grasp and sent Reigns into battle. From there, the juggernaut tagged Wyatt with a big right hand, which the family patriarch was more than happy to return in kind.
The Shield’s teamwork was on point at Elimination Chamber. They used quick tags to control the pace of the bout and keep The Wyatts in their corner. Though Ambrose stunned Harper with a flurry of wild strikes, Harper stopped him in his tracks with a surprising dropkick.
That allowed The Wyatts to take control, with Harper and Wyatt working over Ambrose and Rollins. Just when Harper thought he had Rollins in a precarious position on the top rope, the speedy Hound of Justice shocked him, flipping out of a German suplex off the ropes, landing on his feet. The Shield’s architect sent Harper crashing to the floor, then dove over the ropes onto the big man as the WWE Universe exploded in amazement.

The might of the powerful Wyatt Family soon proved too much for the smaller Rollins to handle. Harper and Rowan pounded him into the canvas, leaving the bones to pick for Wyatt. There was little Ambrose or Reigns could do as they watched The Wyatts pick their partner apart. The unstable Ambrose tried to break up a pin, only to catch a big boot to the face from Harper.
With Reigns and the WWE Universe willing him on, Rollins scrambled to his corner and tagged in The Shield’s juggernaut. Reigns pounced into action, muscling Erick Rowan around with ease. When The Wyatts thought they had the powerhouse slowed down, Reigns outsmarted them.
The match quickly devolved into even greater anarchy; the hulking Luke Harper surprisingly dove through the ropes onto Ambrose and Wyatt, while Rollins followed up with a breathtaking leap of his own. Ambrose and Wyatt brawled over the barricade into the Target Center crowd. The Wyatt Family patriarch made his way back to ringside by himself, ready to orchestrate chaos. Bray watched as his monsters climbed atop the announcers’ table with Seth Rollins in their clutches, then slammed him viciously through the Spanish announce team’s table.
That left Reigns in the ring with all three Wyatts, where the juggernaut was seemingly outmatched. Bray Wyatt had Reigns in position for Sister Abigail, but incredibly, The Hound of Justice muscled his way out. Roman Reigns then unleashed his fury on the creepy clan, landing two Superman Punches on Rowan and Wyatt. He had Bray Wyatt sized up for the spear, but Luke Harper took the blow for his family member. That left Wyatt fresh enough to hit Sister Abigail and pin Reigns to pick up the victory for his team.
Though the WWE Universe was left in awe of the brutal match they had just witnessed, there were questions left to be answered afterward. What happened to Dean Ambrose, who disappeared after trading blows with Bray Wyatt? And though The Wyatt Family claimed victory at Elimination Chamber, will The Shield let this be the last battle in this war between WWE’s two most dominant factions?

Batista def. Alberto Del Rio
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/8412754.jpg?323)
Despite a calculated pre-match sneak attack by Alberto Del Rio at Elimination Chamber, Batista roared back to overcome his cunning opponent and set his sights on the main event of WrestleMania 30.
While Batista came to Minneapolis ready to teach Del Rio a lesson he would never forget, The Essence of Execution had other plans. Donning a neck brace and a crutch, the four-time World Champion emerged to declare that The Animal’s assault two weeks ago had left him unable to compete.
Del Rio’s health seemed to improve in a hurry, though, for when the No. 1 contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title turned his back to take issue with the referee, the devious Del Rio viciously attacked Batista with his crutch. The Mexican Aristocrat then removed his street clothes to reveal his tights, boots and intent to compete.
However, that was hardly the end of the story. Once the referee restored order, a hobbled Batista opted to go head-to-head with Del Rio anyway. While his incensed foe continued his malicious assault from the opening bell through the majority of the contest, the resilient determination of The Animal would rise above.
In the end, Del Rio’s head hit an exposed turnbuckle, allowing Batista to take down The Mexican Aristocrat with a thunderous Batista Bomb.
With Alberto Del Rio out of the way, Batista will continue to charge down The Road to WrestleMania, ready to clash head-on with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Still, with Del Rio doing noticeable damage to both his knee and arm, will The Animal be able to seize the illustrious championship title.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Sheamus, Cesaro & Christian in an Elimination Chamber Match
![Picture](/uploads/2/6/2/5/26252126/8355057.jpg?323)
Four losses in three weeks, five opponents with one common goal, and no escape in sight in a match with zero wins to his name? Randy Orton’s got this.
Despite five Superstars looking to rearrange The Face of WWE into an unrecognisable mush, Orton retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber Sunday night – though he certainly has Kane and The Wyatt Family to thank, in part, for hand-delivering him a pair of get-out-of-jail-free cards inside Satan’s Prison.
The match started as a thuggish brawl between Sheamus and Cesaro, who wasted no time resuming their fisticuffs from their tag match two weeks earlier on Raw. In an opening sequence that channeled the ruthless spirit of the Elimination Chamber, a full two minutes of ground-and-pound uppercuts and shoulders passed before anyone attempted something resembling a wrestling move: a neckbreaker by The Celtic Warrior.
The Chamber itself reared its head early on, when Cesaro’s first tumble over the ropes and onto the steel grate robbed him of his imperious swagger almost immediately. The former U.S. Champion slowed down The Celtic Warrior by targeting his surgically-repaired shoulder, then taking the wind out of him with a top-rope stomp to the ribcage. The Real American used his trademark uppercuts to their fullest advantage, backing Sheamus into a corner until the clock finally struck zero ...And that’s when – YES! – Daniel Bryan entered the fray.

The Beard wasted no time in going to work, taking both Sheamus and Cesaro out with a double top-rope dropkick and picking the two apart with a barrage of kicks and clotheslines. The “Yes!” man made the first pinfall attempt of the match, hauling Cesaro into the air with a Northern Lights suplex while – yes, while – he had Sheamus’ beefy legs entwined in an impressive submission hold. The Über-American used his strength to cut Bryan short, flipping him into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and sending him shoulder-first through his own empty pod moments later.
With Bryan out of commission, Sheamus and Cesaro resumed their donnybrook, and The Celtic Warrior claimed the advantage by planting Cesaro with a rolling Senton onto the grate. Sheamus had just started to mix it up with a recovering Bryan again when the clock struck snake eyes for a second time, and Christian’s number was finally called.
Captain Charisma was full of grit and guts before the match even started, mean-mugging a pod-bound Cena during his entrance and daring his competitors to underrate him as a threat. He didn’t exactly shy from backing up his talk once he set foot into the Chamber for the first time. The former World Champion found Satan’s Prison entirely to his liking, banging on the walls of his pod to distract opponents and targeting Bryan the second he was released, slamming the “Yes!” man into the chain-link fence and tearing the bandages off his injured shoulder.
Christian’s time in the Chamber seemed to bring out the demon in him with each passing minute. He proved a strong challenge for Sheamus and Cesaro as well, reverse-DDT’ing the Irishman onto the grate and countering the Very European Uppercut by grabbing hold of the chain-link fence mid-flight. It took freight-train force to finally knock Christian down, courtesy of Cesaro driving him back-first through a Lexan glass wall.

Cena – incorruptible but unstoppable – entered the match in typical dynamic fashion, Attitude Adjusting Christian on top of Cesaro, but Bryan cut that run short by dropkicking the Cenation leader straight in his jaw. Christian would not be denied, though, dropping Bryan with the Killswitch and kicking off a brawl of epic proportions: Sheamus flattened Cena with White Noise; Cesaro and Sheamus traded furious uppercuts, and Cena was jaw-jacked by a Very European Uppercut.
Odd alliances also started to form at this point: Bryan laid into Cena with body shots while Cesaro was hoisted for the Attitude Adjustment; Sheamus and Bryan joined forces to clobber Cesaro against the ropes. The effect was so catastrophic that, by the time Randy Orton was released, he had his pick of which Superstars to feast upon. He chose to attack everyone – emphatically, in fact – though he took too long to bask in his own splendour. As if the karma gods nodded in unison, all five of his opponents seemed to recover simultaneously, and the outnumbered Viper quickly slithered back into the confines of his pod.
Happily, Sheamus had a solution: He – to quote Michael Cole – "Brogue Kicked the hell out of the pod," reducing WWE’s Champion of Champions to a heap and instigating a six-way brawl for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. And oh, what a brawl it was: Orton went for a 27-rotation Cesaro swing and Sheamus nearly axe-handled the beard off Bryan’s head. Christian escaped the High Cross by crawling on top of one of the empty pods and, with Sheamus in hot pursuit, Orton capitalised by superplexing the Irishman square in the middle of the ring.
Sensing opportunity, Captain Charisma took flight with a frog splash to the prone Sheamus and at last got his, eliminating the former World Champion to notch the first casualty of the match. His glory was short-lived, though, as a running knee from Bryan turned Christian’s face to mush and cut his chances at main-eventing WrestleMania to zero. And then, there were four.

With four Superstars remaining and the supreme prize at stake, the remaining competitors quickly paired off into their respective rivalries: Bryan dispatched Orton, and Cena laid Cesaro low before the “Yes!” man and the Cenation leader found themselves face-to-face once again. With the “Yes!” movement erupting around them, the two threw civility out the window and brawled like it was SummerSlam all over again. If not for a timely belly-to-back suplex that sent Cena airborne (with Bryan over his shoulders – yes, this was awesome too), Bryan might have seen his WrestleMania dreams snuffed out with impunity.
Cena didn’t wait long to respond to the intruder. The 14-time World Champion hauled Cesaro over the ropes and onto a sheet of Lexan glass with an Attitude Adjustment before ending the Real American’s Herculean effort with an STF moments later. Orton was the next opponent ensnared in the hold, though Bray Wyatt saved the champion’s serpentine skin for the second consecutive defence of his title; he and his Family materialised inside Satan’s Prison and obliterated Cena, allowing Orton to pick the bones and secure his first, ill-gotten elimination of the night.

In the referees’ attempt to remove The Wyatts from the Chamber, Director of Operations Kane stomped down to restore order, successfully compelling the Family to leave … and eating a flying knee to the skull from Bryan for his troubles. Orton, ever the opportunist, struck immediately by throwing Bryan – again – through the wall of a pod, though his habitual underestimation of the submission master cost him dearly.
Bryan ensnared Orton in the Tree of Woe before blasting “The Face of WWE” with three running baseball slides. Fatigue seemed to finally be setting in for both Superstars, though the slightly fresher Orton still had enough wind in him to plant Byran with a second-rope hanging DDT. In a final burst, Bryan rallied for a running knee that laid Orton out for a would-be three count until – oh, hell no – Kane grabbed the official’s legs to break the count.
The distraction understandably preoccupied Bryan and Orton found his footing to, out of nowhere, strike with the RK – NO! Bryan kicked out of Orton’s finisher and The Apex Predator all but blew a gasket that he still, still, couldn’t get the job done. The “Yes!” man channeled his inner mad goat and clobbered The Viper with a kick to the head before setting up for the running knee, but Kane, still trapped in the Chamber, struck Bryan with a cheap shot straight to the bearded face. Bryan staggered back into the middle of the ring, where a final RKO brought his WrestleMania dream to its ruthless end.
So here we find ourselves, a controversial ending and the Champion of Champions’ run atop the mountain extended for another night. Was it fair? Hell, no. Best for business? Depends on whom you ask. Certainly best for Randy Orton. As for Orton himself, The Road to WrestleMania awaits. No more looking back, and, given what he had to go through to get there, who can blame him?
